Name the hormone and state whether its hyposecretion or hypersecretion that causes diabetes insipidus.
ADH; hyposecretion
Vasopressin or ADH is involved in reabsorption of water by the nephrons. In the case of hyposecretion of this hormone, less water gets reabsorbed, and therefore more water is expelled out in the form of urine, leading to diabetes insipidus.
