The testis starts the development in the abdominal cavity but during the 7th month of the foetal life, they descend into the scrotal sacs in the presence of Testosterone hormone.
The failure of this process is termed as Cryptorchidism. It results in sterility because the sperms require a temperature of 2 - 2.5 degrees Celsius lower than the body temperature for development which is not fulfilled inside the body.
