The pituitary is located at the base of the brain.
The hormones secreted are :
Growth hormone - stimulates the growth of bones.
Adrenocorticotropic hormone - stimulates the adrenal gland and thus secreting its hormones.
Thyroid-stimulating hormone - stimulates the thyroid gland for the secretion of thyroxine.
Prolactin - stimulates milk production.
Follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH) - control the growth of gonads and associated with secondary sexual functions.
Luteinizing hormone(LH) - control menstrual cycle and ovulation.
Oxytocin - uterine contraction during Labour and milk ejection during lactation.
Antidiuretic hormone - acts are the level of the nephron and thereby regulating water levels in the body.
