In India the sugarcane production is mainly used for the production of crystal sugar, jaggery (Gur), and numerous alcoholic beverages. Annual production of 341,400 TMT was estimated in the country in 2015.

Uttar Pradesh is the top producer of sugarcane in India while Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, and Bihar produce the maximum quantities of sugarcane.
