Name the intermediate and end products of breakdown of glucose in aerobic respiration.
Aerobic respiration of glucose:
The processes involved in the aerobic respiration of glucose are glycolysis, Krebs cycle and the electron transport chain.
The first stage or glycolysis is the process in which glucose is converted to two molecules of pyruvic acid. The pyruvic acid gets converted to acetyl CoA which enters the Krebs cycle. Therefore, pyruvic acid is the intermediate as there are no separate intermediates directly produced from Krebs cycle and electron transport chain.
The end products of aerobic respiration are however carbon dioxide and water.
