multiply the force: jack used to lift the car.
Change the point of application of force: Rotating the wheels of a cycle, by applying force on the pedal. The wheels are connected by chain.
Change the direction of force: Using a fixed pulley (single) for pulling out a bucket of water from the well. This is done by applying force in the downward direction instead of applying it upwards.
Obtain the gain in speed: scissors used to cut through paper, blades move along the paper with little force on the handles.
