Name the nerve which transmits messages from the ear to the brain.

Auditory nerve:

  1. These nerves are a bundle of nerve fibres that connect the brain's cochlea to the auditory nerve.
  2. The optic nerve, on the other hand, connects the eye to the brain.
  3. The retina, the nerve layer that lines the back of the eye and senses light and generates impulses, sends impulses to the optic nerve.
  4. The olfactory nerve is the first cranial nerve that transmits sensory information about scent.
  5. A mixed neuron that has both sensory and motor fibres sends and receives messages in both directions at the same time.

The nerve which transmits messages from the ear to the brain is called auditory nerve.
