Filtration
Filtration is the process by which a liquid with insoluble, suspended fine particles is allowed to pass through a filter. The insoluble residue is left behind on the filter while the clear liquid is collected in another container as filtrate. For water supply on a large scale, water is filtered through beds of sand, charcoal and gravel. This process removes suspended particles.
