Gametogenesis is the process of formation of gametes. In males, it is known as spermatogenesis. And in females, it is known as oogenesis.

The process of formation of Male gametes ( sperms ) in the seminiferous tubules of the testis of the males starts during the puberty.

Oogenesis takes place in the ovary, egg formation in females begin before birth. All the eggs that are present in the female ovary are developed in the fetal stage only.
