Dendrites are the part of the neuron where the information is acquired. Below are the some of the important characteristics of the neuron: -

  1. The cell body's specialized extensions are known as dendrites.
  2. Their purpose is to collect data from other cells and transfer it to the cell body.
  3. The finger-like cells called dendrites are found on the terminal of a neuron.
  4. These are tiny, branching fibres that protrude from the nerve cell's cell body.
  5. This fibre expands the area that can be used to receive incoming data. The receiving or input parts of a neuron are called dendrites.
