Name the parts of the flower of an angiosperm in which development of male and female gametophyte take place.
Pollen grains present inside the anther act as the male gametophyte of the flower. The male gametophyte is produced from microspore mother cells and it contains the mail gametes which it carries to the stigma.
Female gametophyte:
The female gametophyte develops from the megaspore mother cell and is called an embryo sac. The embryo sac develops inside the ovule and contains two synergids, three antipodal cells, one egg cell and a central cell. The egg cell is the female gamete where the male gamete from the pollen grain reaches to undergo fertilization or fusion of the two gametes.
