Solution
Large intestine:
The large intestine represents that part of the digestive tract which is connected to the small intestine on one end and the anal opening on the other.
Parts of Large Intestine:
The large intestine is a tube-like structure that is divided into three segments, i.e., caecum, colon, and rectum.
The colon itself has three segments: ascending colon, the transverse colon, and the descending colon.
Absorption of water and formation of feces in the large intestine:
Absorption of all the water content from the digested food material occurs in the colon.
Absorption of water in the large intestine is essential to keep the body hydrated.
Once complete water absorption occurs, feces formation then occurs in the last segment of the large intestine, i.e., rectum.
