Electric generator:

  1. A generator is a kind of device which converts mechanical power into electric power for use in an external circuit.
  2. Sources of mechanical energy are many like steam, gas, and water turbines, IC engines, wind turbines, and many more.

Faraday’s laws of electromagnetic induction:

  1. Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction says that an electromotive force is produced in the conductor whenever the magnetic flux linked with the conductor changes.
  2. This kind of phenomenon is known as electromagnetic induction and this induced emf causes a flow of current in the well-defined closed-circuit known as the Induced current.
  3. When we give rotation to a coil between the poles of a magnet, an induced current is induced in the coil, the direction of which is given by Fleming’s right-hand rule.
  4. The principle of working of a generator is that the flow of electric charges can be induced by moving an electrical conductor within a magnetic field.
  5. Moving the conductor in the magnetic field or vice versa produces a difference in voltage between the two ends of the wire ( which is an electrical conductor), hence producing an induced current.
  6. Mathematically, induced emf ε= -NdΦdt, Where N= number of loops, dΦ= change in flux, dt= change in time.

Thus, Faraday’s law of electromagnetic induction is the phenomenon that explains the working of an electric generator.
