  • The process by which a solid substance changes from a solid-state to a liquid state is called melting or fusion.
  • This process occurs a solid substance like ice is heated, due to heating the particles of solid gain energy and start vibrating with greater speed.
  • As a result when particles gain enough energy, they overcome the force of attraction and hence they start moving.
  • Ultimately a solid changes into a liquid( water).
