Solution

(i) rate of change of displacement

  1. The rate of change of displacement is called velocity.
  2. The velocity of an object, in general, changes during its course of motion.
  3. Both displacement as well as velocity are vectors i.e. they have magnitude and direction.

(ii) rate of change of velocity.

  1. Like velocity, acceleration is a vector quantity and has both magnitude and direction.
  2. The velocity of an object is the speed of an object moving in a definite direction.
  3. Acceleration is defined as the rate at which an object changes its velocity.
  4. An object is accelerating if it is changing its velocity.
