  1. Mendel used the pea plant as his test subject.
  2. Mendel selected pea plants for his studies for the following reasons:
    1. This plant produces bisexual flowers.
    2. Because they self-pollinate, it is simple to do cross and self-pollination on them.
    3. It was simple to identify and examine the various physical traits.
  3. Below were the results that were obtained: -
    1. All of the offspring o obtained were tall. The F1 generation was produced.
    2. Following that, he crossed and pollinated two F1 plants.
    3. The F2 generation was composed of the offspring produced.
    4. Three tall and one short plant were present in the F2 generation.
    5. In the F2 generation, a 3:1 ratio was achieved.
    6. Mendel permitted the F1 plants to reproduce through self-pollination, and from this process, seeds were produced.
    7. When he displayed these seeds, they developed into F2 tall stem plants and dwarf stem plants, yielding a ratio of almost 3:1 between the two.
