Solution

The correct option is D All of the above
Cotton belong to the genus Gossypium in the family of Malvaceae. Cotton fibres represent the purest natural form of cellulose, containing more than 90% of this polysaccharide. Cotton, as a natural cellulosic fibre, has a lot of characteristics, such as good absorbency, colour retention, prints well etc. Hemp is a commonly used term for high growing varieties of the Cannabis sativa plant and its products, which include fiber, oil, and seed. Flax is obtained from Linum usitatissimum, Family Lineace. The fibres occur in discrete groups or aggregates of many cells in the pericycle (bast or stem fibres), each bundle consisting of ten to forty individual fibres. The flax fibres after retting contain 64 percent cellulose, 17 percent hemicellulose and 2 percent lignin. Thus, the correct answer is option D.
