Question

Name the process by which sulphide ores are concentrated?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Sulfide ores are concentrated by the Froth flotation method.
  2. The principle of froth flotation process is that sulphide ores are preferentially wetted by the pine oil, whereas the gangue particles are wetted by the water.
  3. Froth flotation is a process for selectively separating hydrophobic materials from hydrophilic.
  4. Since they are hydrophobic they can easily be wetted with pine oil and forms a froth which then raises the ores on the surface.
