Name the process of obtaining charcoal from wood?
what are the advantages and disdvantages of this?

The charcoal is produced by the slow pyrolysis that means the heating of wood in the absence of oxygen and this process is called carbonisation or in Broader sense it is called as pyrolysis.
Advantages
1)This step itself is relatively not a costly step but cheap.
2) This process do not require very much labour per unit of production.
Disadvantages
1) wood produces lot of smoke while burning which is harmful for human health
2)Very little amount of energy could be derived from this process
