Active absorption or Active transport is the mechanism of transport of molecules(ions) against the concentration gradient using the energy from the cell. The direction of molecules in active transport is just opposite to that of diffusion.
Nutrient molecules such as potassium, zinc, nitrates, sulfates, etc., do not pass through the cell membrane because of their higher concentration inside the root cells.
Thus, these molecules are forcibly carried inside the cell, against their concentration gradient with the help of energy in the form of ATP.
