Solution

Analogous organs

The organs which have different origins and dissimilar fundamental structures but have similar function is called analogous organs.

Evolution shown by analogous organs

  1. Analogous organs are adapted to a similar mode of life and are evidence of adaptive convergence.
  2. Different organisms evolved from different ancestors and exhibit analogous structures.
  3. Analogous structures of organisms are anatomically different but perform similar functions which is a result of convergent evolution.
  4. Different organisms when exposed to very similar environments, develop similar adaptations to survive.

Hence, a type of evolution shown by analogous organs is convergent evolution.
