Guttation:

  1. It is the loss of water through small pores present on the tips and margins of leaves of herbaceous plants.
  2. These pores are known as hydathodes.
  3. The water is lost in the form of small droplets through hydathodes.
  4. It is seen in plants like rose, jasmine, grasses, and sunflower during the night or in the early morning when the temperature is low.
  5. It is also called exudation. It is not the same as the dew drops.
  6. The process in which intact plants lose water in the form of water droplets is called guttation.
