Electricity is produced from the nuclear energy via nuclear fission reaction which involves splliting of a heavy nucleus into two smaller nuclei with the help of slow moving neutrons which results in the release of a tremendous amount of energy.

Generally, a slow neutron is absorbed by $U^{235}$ nuclei to produce huge amount of heat energy which is further converted into electricity with the help of turbine. Nearly $200MeV$ is released per fission of $U^{235}$.
