Question

Name the process used for producing electricity using nuclear energy.

Open in App
Solution

Electricity is produced from the nuclear energy via nuclear fission reaction which involves splliting of a heavy nucleus into two smaller nuclei with the help of slow moving neutrons which results in the release of a tremendous amount of energy.
Generally, a slow neutron is absorbed by U235 nuclei to produce huge amount of heat energy which is further converted into electricity with the help of turbine. Nearly 200 MeV is released per fission of U235.
