  1. Formation of urine takes place inside the kidney, by the functional unit called nephron.
  2. There are certain processes involved in the formation of the urine which are glomerular filtration, tubular reabsorption, tubular secretion and excretion.
  3. Glomerular filtration is the process in which soluble molecules, such as water, glucose, salts and urea are squeezed out of the blood into the Bowman's capsule.
  4. Tubular reabsorption: where the reabsorption of useful substances, such as glucose, amino acids, water and some inorganic salts takes place by the renal blood capillaries.
  5. Tubular secretion: Additional wastes like urea and uric acid are dissolve in the urine.
  6. Excretion: Urine passed out from the body through urethra.
