Solution

Products and by-products of sugar industries are:

  1. Bagasse, molasses, and press mud are the principal by-products.
  2. Green leaves and tops, garbage, boiler ash, and effluent from the sugar industry and distillery are some of the other items and their byproducts that have little commercial value.
  3. By-products of sugar production include molasses and beet pulp. Every ton of cane or beet that is processed results in the formation of molasses, a byproduct from which no more sugar can be extracted through further crystallization.
  4. Sugar from crushed cane is extracted to make cane sugar. Bagasse, or depleted cane, can be utilized as a fuel source for power plants and can also be used to make paper or cardboard. After extraction, raw cane sugar is refined to create goods like granulated white sugar.
