Name the product formed when a candle burns in oxygen.

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student,

The fuel for candle is wax, which is the mixture of hydrocarbons.
It burns in oxygen to form CO2 (carbon dioxide) and water vapours.

(CH)n + 5nO2 ------> nCO2 + n/2H2O

Also, unburnt carbon is formed as soot in the flame.
