Ethyne reacts with bromine to change into 1, 2-dibromoethene with carbon-carbon double bond.

This is called a bromination reaction.

Then it gives 1, 1, 2, 2 - tetrabromoethane on further bromination.

$C_{2} H_{2} B r_{2} B r_{2} - - \to C_{2} H_{2} B r_{4}$
