Solution

Increase in going from left to right in a period

Ionization energy - Within a period, the ionization energy of the elements normally increases from left to right.

  1. Ionization energy is the amount of energy necessary to remove an electron from a neutral atom in its gaseous state.
  2. Ionization energy is the total opposite of electronegativity in terms of concept.
  3. The lesser the energy, the easier it is for the atom to form a cation.
  4. As a result, the greater this energy, the less probable the atom will become a cation.
  5. Because their valence shells are nearly full, elements on the right side of the periodic table have higher ionization energy.
  6. Because they are willing to lose electrons and become cations, elements on the left side of the periodic table have low ionization energy.
  7. As a result, ionization energy always increases when we go from left to right on the periodic table.
