The reaction of alcohol with an organic acid in the presence of concentrated Sulphuric acid (H2SO4) forms ester and Water as the major product. This reaction is known as esterification reaction.

The reaction of Ethanoic acid (CH3COOH) and Ethanol (C2H5OH) forms ester that is Ethyl ethanoate (C2H5COOCH3) and Water.
