Solution

Photosynthesis:

  1. Photosynthesis involves the synthesis of organic food items from inorganic substances such as carbon dioxide, and water with the help of chlorophyll in the presence of sunlight.
  2. Sunlight
    • Photosynthesis process takes place in presence of sunlight which is the main source of energy.
    • This light energy is converted to chemical energy by chlorophyll.
    • This chemical energy is required for the dark reaction that involves the synthesis of glucose.
  3. Chlorophyll
    • Chlorophyll is green pigments present on leaves that help with the trapping of light and converting it into chemical energy.
  4. Water
    • The oxygen liberated during photosynthesis is a result of the hydrolysis of the water molecules.
  5. Carbon dioxide
    • Carbon dioxide is absorbed by plants that are fixed by the rubisco enzyme present in the stroma into glucose.
    • This reaction occurs during the dark reaction, in the absence of sunlight.
