The modern form of vaccine was discovered by British Physician Edward Jenner in the year 1796.
List of vaccines and diseases for which they are used
(1) DTaP vaccine: Diptheria, tetanus, acellular pertusis vaccine for diptheria. The appropriate age for this vaccination is two, four, and six and 15 to 18 months of age. It can also be given in between four and six years of age.
(2) MCV4: Meningococcal conjugate vaccine for meningococcal disease. The appropriate age for this vaccination is between 11-12 years along with a booster dose at 16 years.
(3) MPSV4: Meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine for meningococcal disease: It is given to older people of age above 56 years.
(4) DTaP vaccine: Diptheria, tetanus, acellular pertusis vaccine for perussis. The appropriate age for this vaccination is two, four, six and 15 to 18 months of age. It can also be given in between four and six years of age.
(5) PCV13: Pneumococcal conjugate vaccine for pneumococcal disease. It can be given to children of about 2-6 months or in between 1-2 years.
(6) PPV23: Pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine for pneumococcal disease. It can be given to children of about 2-6 months or in between 1-2 years.
(7) DT: Diptheria, tetanus vaccine for tetanus and diptheria. The appropriate age for this vaccination is two, four, six and 15 to 18 months of age. It can also be given in between four and six years of age.
(8) DTP: Diptheria, tetanus, pertussis vaccine. It can be given at two, four, and six and 15 to 18 months of age. It can also be given in between four and six years of age.
