Solution

Dear Student,

Polymers are classified in following 4 types on the basis of magnitude of molecular forces-
1. Elastomers - Weakest intermolecular force of attraction between polymer chains;
2. Fibres - Strongest intermolecular force of attraction between polymer chains;
3. Thermoplastic - Intermolecular force of attraction is intermediate in between elastomers and fibres;
4. Thermosetting - Polymers which lie in the form of semi fluid substances with low molecular masses , but on heating underso a permanent change in chemical composition to give a hard mass.
