The division of Himalaya from North to South is as follows:

1) The Great or Inner Himalayas: This is the northernmost range and is also known as 'Himadri'. This is the most continuous range. It contains the loftiest peaks.

2) The Middle or Lesser Himalayas:Himalaya in middle are classified as the Middle Himalaya, sometimes also called Himachal or Lesser Himalayas.

3) The Outer Himalayas: They are known as the Shivalik ranges. These ranges are youngest of the Himalayan family.
