Salivary Glands:

  • The glands present in the mouth cavity that are responsible for releasing saliva into the mouth are known as salivary glands.
  • The saliva moistens the food allowing its easy movement through into the esophagus.

Types of Salivary Glands:

  1. Parotic gland: these glands are present in both cheeks just below the ears.
  2. Submandibular gland: This gland is present under the lower jaw in the mouth.
  3. Sublingual gland: This gland is present below the tongue in the mouth.
