Columnar means pillar-like. It is formed of tall pillar-like or brick-like cylindrical cells, lying side by side.
The cells are much taller than they are wide. Their nuclei lie in the basal part nucleus at the basal part cytoplasm basement membrane connective tissue
The columnar epithelium is found in the inner lining of the stomach and intestines where absorption and secretion take place.
