Open in App
Solution

  • Animals reproduce either by asexual or sexual mode.
1) Asexual reproduction- The process by which organisms form genetically identical copies of themselves known as clones.
  • It organisms divide by mitosis.
  • The formation of gamete is not required.
  • Eg- Binary fission in bacteria, budding in yeast and hydra.
2) Sexual reproduction- The process by which the genetic material of two organisms gets combined.
  • The sex cells or gametes (sperm and ovum) are produced by meiosis.
  • Each parent contributes each half of the offspring's genetic material by creating haploid gametes.
  • These gametes combine together to form a diploid zygote which is the future embryo.
  • Eg- Humans.
