Two different types of cytokinesis takes place in plant cell and animal cell, that is cell plate and cleavage respectively

In a plant cell the cell division occurs by formation of a cell plate in the direction perpendicular to the equatorial plate. The cell plate grows towards the periphery that is centrifugal progression to divide the cell into two.

In an animal cell the plasma membrane undergoes cleavage at specific points that are opposite to each other. The cleavages thus formed grow towards the center, centripetal manner, to divide the cytoplasm into two
