The two types of immune system in a human body are the humoral immune system and the cell mediated immune system. Humoral immunity is so called because it involves substances found in the humors or body fluids, since only components that circulate in the body fluids generate the immune response. It is also known as antibody based immunity and is generated in response to B-cell activation and proliferation. The B cells are generated from the bone marrow (called humerus in birds) and hence the name humoral immunity. Cell mediated immunity is so called because cells are directly involved in killing or destroying the infected cells and other components are not involved. T-cells are mostly responsible for generating cell mediated immune response.
