Solution

Food chain:

  1. A food chain is a linear sequence of organisms through which energy and nutrients pass as one organism eats another.
  2. Each step of a food chain is called a trophic level.

1. grain→ rat →snake →eagle

  1. In the above food chain snake is a secondary consumer.
  2. It feeds on the primary consumer i.e. rat and which is a prey tertiary consumer i.e. eagle.

2. flower → Bee

  1. Bee is a primary consumer of flowers that produce nectar and thus is a producer.

3. Grass→ caterpillar → crow → bacteria

  1. Bacteria is a decomposer. the grass is a producer here, which is eaten by the caterpillar who is the primary consumer.
  2. The caterpillar is then eaten by the crow i.e. secondary consumer.
  3. When a crow dies, it is decomposed by bacteria.

4. grass → rabbit → fox → Tiger

  1. Tiger is a tertiary consumer in this food chain.
  2. The grass is a producer, rabbits eat it and thus become the primary consumer, rabbit is eaten by a fox who is a secondary consumer and further is prey for the tiger.
