  2. Blood vessels include veins, arteries and capillaries.

Vessels entering the heart

These vessels bring deoxygenated blood to the right atrium of the heart.

  1. Superior (anterior) vena cava: The main vein bringing deoxygenated blood from the anterior part of the body.
  2. Inferior (posterior) vena cava: The main vein bringing blood from the posterior parts of the body.
  3. Pulmonary vein: Pulmonary vein bring oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium.

Vessels leaving the heart

  1. Pulmonary artery: Carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs.
  2. Aorta: Supplies oxygenated blood to all parts of the body.
  3. Coronary arteries: Carry oxygenated blood to the heart muscle.
