Deficiency diseases in plants:

  1. Some major deficiency symptoms include chlorosis, necrosis, delayed flowering and die back of shoot.
  2. Chlorosis: It is due to the loss of chlorophyll leading to yellowing of leaves.
  3. Necrosis: It refers to localised death of the tissues like in buds, leaf tips and leaf margins.
  4. Delayed flowering: The flower does not flower at its regular intervals and flower much later in the season.
  5. Die back of shoot: It leads to death of shoot tip as a result the plant stops growing.
