The three patterns of cropping are:

i. Mixed cropping: Mixed cropping is growing of two or more crops simultaneously, on the same piece of crop field.

ii. Intercropping: Intercropping is growing two or more crops simultaneously, in a same field in definite row patterns.

iii. Crop rotation: Growing different crops on a piece of land in pre-planned succession is known as crop rotation.
