Nerves arising from the brain are called cranial nerves.
They come out of cranium through apertures called Foramina.
Most of the cranial nerves innervate the different parts of the head.
There are 12 pairs of cranial nerves in human beings.
Olfactory nerves
They develop from olfactory lobes and reach up to part of the Schneiderian membrane or olfactory membrane of the nasal sac.
Optic nerves
They arise from thalami or diencephalon and innervate retina of eyes. Blind spots of eyes are formed by them.
