Solution

Mendeleev periodic table:

  • In Mendeleev, periodic table elements were arranged based on increasing atomic mass.
  • During Mendeleev, only 63 elements were known so after studying the properties of elements he arranged them into vertical columns called groups, and horizontal rows called periods.
  • During the arrangement, there were seven periods and eight groups in Mendeleev's periodic table.

Correction in atomic mass:

  • Mendeleev's periodic table helped in correcting the atomic masses of some of the elements, based on their positions in the periodic table.
  • He used the formula atomic weight = equivalent weight × valency.
  • The atomic mass of Beryllium was corrected from 13.5 to 9 and also the atomic masses of Gold and Platinum were corrected.

Hence, Beryllium, Gold, and Platinum elements whose atomic weights are corrected on the basis of their positions in the Mendeleev periodic table.
