Metals can be defined as those elements (except Hydrogen) which have the tendency to form positive ions (cations) as a result of the loss of electrons.
Metals are malleable and ductile.
Malleability and ductility of metals
The property of metal in which it can be made into very thin sheets is known as malleability.
The property of metal in which it can be drawn into thin wires is known as ductility.
Gold and Silver are both malleable as well as ductile.
