  1. Multinucleate cells (also called multinucleated or polynuclear cells) are eukaryotic cells that have more than one nucleus per cell,
  2. In most eukaryotic cells, there is just one nucleus per cell.
  3. In some animals, each cell or some specialized cells has more than one nucleus.
  4. Multinucleate organisms include fungi, such as Rhizopus coenocytic hyphae and slime mold, plasmodium, as well as skeletal muscle cells and osteoclasts in humans.
  5. A paramoecium is comprised of one macronucleus and one or more micronuclei (ciliated unicellular protozoan).
  6. One of the reasons for more than one nucleus per cell when cytokinesis does not follow karyokinesis (nuclear division).
