$1 m = \frac{1}{1000} k m$
So,
$km\therefore 1~m~=~\frac{1}{1000}~km$
$2 k m 35 m = 2 k m + 35 m = 2 k m + 1 m \times 35 = 2 k m + \frac{1}{1000} k m \times 35 = 2.035 k m$

$1 k m 7 m = 1 k m + 7 m = 1 k m + 1 m \times 7 = 1 k m + \frac{1}{1000} k m \times 7 = 1.007 k m$

Distance travelled in morning $= 2 k m 35 m = 2.035 k m$
