1. The Nationalist groups became increasingly intolerant, which leads to war. 2. Major European powers manipulated the nationalist aspirations to further their own imperialist aims. 3. Source of nationalist tension in Europe was the area called Balkans. 4. Idea of romantic nationalism in the Balkan region together with disintegration of the Ottoman Empire made this region prone to the movements. Which further led to the disintegration of Balkans. 5. This was followed by other neighbouring nation and there increased the conflict among them. In this manner it is evident that the idea of liberal nationalism went away!!
