$\Rightarrow$ Discriminant $=b^2-4ac$

$=(-1{)}^2-4(1\left)\right(1)$

$=1-4$

$=-3$

$\therefore$ Discriminant $=-3$

$\Rightarrow$ Negative of discriminant $=-(-3)=3$
