Also, the number of skirts is four less than four times the number of pants purchased. Help her friend to find how many pants and skirts Neha bought.

Let the number of pants be $y$

According to question

No. of skirts are two less than twice the no. of pants.

i.e., $x=2y-2$ ------------------------- 1

No. of skirts is four less than four times the no. of pants

i.e., $x=4y-4$ ------------------------- 2

Subtracting $1$ from $2$
$x=4y-4$
$x=2y-2$

$\Rightarrow 0=2y-2$

$\Rightarrow 2y=2$

$\Rightarrow y=1$

Putting $y=1$ in equation $1$

$\Rightarrow x=2y-2=2\left(1\right)-2$

$=0$

$\therefore$ No. of skirts purchased $=0$

No. of pants purchased $=1$
